a rumble in the fireplace

After the zoo and lunch at the Boat House, we headed to the lake. Thankfully it was nap time, so Brother and I sleep most of the way. Upon arriving at GP's house we heard some rumbling noises coming from the fireplace. After a few minutes the thumps and scratching got much louder. We thought a giant animal was about to jump right out of the fireplace! After a call to GP, who was not at the lake yet, we realized that a man had just been working on the fireplace to fix a hole. We called and requested a rodent removal guy to come the next day.

Jordan, our new animal removal friend, arrived and started to work. After two large holes were cut in the fireplace...

Jordan climbed in to see what animal was inside!

It was a pregnant raccoon!

He got out a cage to catch her, but she kept running to different sides of the fireplace to get away. She finally crawled up into the roof rafters where Jordan could not reach her. After 2 hours of entertainment watching the action, we were a little disappointed that we would not get to see the raccoon, or otherwise known as "Rochelle".

Brother waiting and watching the action! Jordan put a one way door on the fireplace and later that night Mommy and Daddy heard her leave.

My favorite part was getting to see the truck. Even though we did not get to see Rochelle, I did get to see one on the truck and sported my very appropriate shirt!
